Why We Gift Wednesday: Administrative Professionals Day

This year, National Administrative Professionals Day is Wednesday, April 24, 2024. Originally known as Secretary’s Day, this day is set aside to honor administrative assistants, receptionists, secretaries, and other professional administrative positions. The holiday was proclaimed in 1952 by Charles Sawyer, the then US Secretary of Commerce.

Office administrators play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of an office environment. Chances are there’s at least one rockstar on your office’s admin team. In addition to handling day-to-day responsibilities, they step in to handle anything and everything that comes up unexpectedly . . . all while maintaining their composure as they usually represent the first impression of the organization.

It takes a special kind of person to be an administrative professional. These are the people with a keen eye for detail. They make to-do lists each day and don’t stop until each item is crossed off. They take on new challenges and adapt to new technologies, making it look effortless along the way. In short, they make you and your company look good.

Let your administrative staff know how much you appreciate them on National Administrative Professionals Day! It can be as simple as a handshake, or you can go above and beyond. Send a company-wide email praising each admin staff member by name. Take the whole admin team out to lunch (don't forget to make the reservation!). Or surprise them with a delivery from our Admins Day Gifts collection—these options work especially well for a remote or hybrid team and GiftTree can handle all the delivery details, even for multiple locations!

Whatever you choose to do to mark the occasion, make sure your admin team knows that their hard work and dedication isn’t taken for granted.
